A Little Light in Tokyo: Photos by Yuna Hosino
Yuna Hosino is a Tokyo, Japan-based photographer. Her photos are surreal, dreamy, and alive with style: she publishes them on her Instagram, Tumblr, and in beautifully-bound books such as White Wave. Countere previously published Hosino’s work in a 2020 photo essay titled “I’ve Never Seen Such a Sad Spring,” capturing the isolation and abandonment of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, Hosino returns with a new photo essay, a search in the dark with hands for warmth and something solid to hold onto. Hosino writes us with comment in Japanese and English:
“Two years ago, the world changed and I felt colder than before, but I'm still looking for a little light in my life.
Want to be happy.
This is the light I saw between February and April 2022.”
「2年前に世の中が変わり冷たい気持ちになることが以前より増えたが、それでも私は生活の中に小さな光を探し続けている。
幸せになりたい。
これは2022年2月から4月の間の私の見た光です。」
